You will sense the tranquillity the moment you drive through the entrance gates to Cumbrian Lakes. Pleasing treescapes are lined with ancient oak tree preserves.
Cumbrian Lakes is a beautiful wooded conservation area with sparkling lakes that provide a natural habitat for a wide variety of Florida's wildlife including Ducks, Cranes, Anhingas (Snake birds), Egrets, Red Shouldered Hawks, Ospreys and Blue Herons. As well as turtles and the occasional alligator you might see patrolling one of the lakes.
This Red Shouldered Hawk poses just outside the cage of the house.
Anhingas (also known as Snake Birds because they swim in the lakes with just their heads and necks above the water) can often be seen drying their wings in the sun.
And there's much, much more......
|Disney must have got inspiration for some of the characters in a Bug's Life from these giant Grasshoppers that sometimes cling to the nets of the cages.|
|There is an abundance of other insect life around the lakes including dragonflies and butterflies.|
You may be lucky and see an alligator in one of the lakes. They do not appear in very hot weather in the summer. Or you may even see an armadillo walk past the cage....
The community has a football pitch and children's playground area for the enjoyment of residents and guests. At certain times of the year there is a friendly match on Sunday mornings.
There are also walks, cycling and jogging trails around the community.
Cumbrian Lakes is a peaceful and safe place to come to, yet is so close to all the excitement that makes Central Florida the Number One Tourist destination in the world! The main theme parks and attractions such as Disney and Sea World are no more than 15 minutes drive away. Universal and Florida Mall are about 30 minutes away.
Our villa is also close to the numerous restaurants and shopping outlets along the 192. For golfers there are a number of excellent golf courses within easy reach. If you are a fishing enthusiast, West Lake Toho has some of the best Bass fishing in Florida and is 10 minutes away.
The wonderful sunsets of the Gulf coast to the west, the Atlantic coast to the East plus the Kennedy Space Centre at Cape Canaveral are all only about an hour's drive.
For something different try a boat trip along the St John's river - see alligators and manatees in the wild. Even closer (10 mins), airboat rides at Boggy Creek. There are short video clips of both the St John's river and Boggy Creek on the videos page.
